I live in the south where it is hot all summer. I wanted a small oven I could plug in on my porch and not have to heat up my house to cook small batches of food for my husband and me. I have used this oven to bake pies, casseroles, cookies, biscuits, and toast hamburger buns. I have not tried to bake bread in it yet. I love the fact that it turns itself off and I do not worry about burning anythng when I leave it unattended. The one thing it does not do so well is make toast, but I use a toaster for that. I line the tray on the bottom with foil so I don't have to clean it.

When baking a frozen pie, cover the top with foil, poke holes in the top, and bake on convection at the specified temperature and time.

To make cheese toast I use a piece of foil the size of the rack and put slices of french bread on the foil. Sprinkle the bread with olive oil and parmesian or romano cheese. Broil for 6 minutes. Put foil and bread on a plate and serve.

After much research, I purchased this product in late July, 2007. We used it for making toast, garlic bread, cooking fish, and reheating pizza. It was easy to operate (digital controls), the appliance was pleasing to the eye, and most importantly, it worked extremely well. Unfortunely, a few days ago, while my wife was cooking salmon, it just stopped working. It appears that I am not the only person that this has happened to. See the review entitled: BEWARE! HAD TO REPLACE TOASTER TWICE!, May 16, 2007 By Amber (Monson MA). I quess I should have heeded her advise. Since the warranty is only good for a year, it looks like I'm out of luck. I will send an email to Oster and see "how" they respond. I don't mind spending money on a product but I expect it to last more than 19 months. Too bad, it was good while it worked!!!

With shipping and handling, the final price I paid OrangeOnions for this great little toaster oven was $83.00. That said...



I ordered the unit on the evening of September 1st. The first model arrived somewhat damaged on September 4th. I contacted OrangeOnions on September 6th and they immediately shipped out another one. Great service from them. I look forward to dealing with them again.



Second one arrived on September 11th(thanks OrangeOnions). The only defect was that a lens for the indicator light had popped out. I found it and popped it back in. Nuff said.



Since then, the thing has worked great.



Pros:

* No problems with it yet.

* It heats up very quickly and cooks a little quicker than our big oven.

* It has good interior space - enough to hold a 9x7 Pyrex glass baking dish. It has the bow out in the back to allow it to accomodate the small frozen pizzas also.

* The digital interface is very simple and my wife has had no problems with it.

* It cooks on time and rings a bell when done.

* Shuts down automatically.

* Light stays on while cooking - making it easy to see the food without opening the door (could be considered a negative if you are concerned with energy consumption).



Cons:

* The unit is light (some may consider this a plus) and feels a little flimsy maybe, but I'm not giving it the bounce test. It does what it's supposed to do and does it at a good price.

* I dont use these things for toasting, so I cannot speak to how well it would toast. Probably not that well if it compares to most toaster ovens.

* The unit does get very hot on the outside - on top particularly - not a problem for me, but it may be for some. I tell my young son not to touch it because it gets hot. It is an oven. He has not burned himself yet.

* Not a con per se, but I don't use the convection oven component and I have not used a convection oven before. Therefore I dont offer an opinion on the effectiveness of the convection oven feature.



It took us a while to get in the habit of using this oven instead of the big oven. Now that we use this one almost exclusively, I am waiting curiously to see what impact this will have on our electric bill.....

This oven does a good job cooking food. It has a fan which allows it to be used as a convection oven and cook the food faster. There is a pan that is easy to clean.



The controls are awful. The labels for the controls are beneath them, leading you to push the wrong buttons. The up and down buttons should be swapped. I'm not sure who designed this, but it's a pain to use. You need to scroll down to the oven selection you want (making sure to push the right buttons), then change the settings for that selection (again making sure to push the right buttons), then you can cook. What would have been nice (and they do this with their toaster) is to have a button for bake, a button for broil, a button for convection bake, a button for toast, etc. Then have buttons or a dial to change temp, time, etc. This has to be one of the worst interfaces I have ever seen while their toaster has one of the best. What's up Oster?

Euro-pro T021 You cannot use it at 450. It goes into E-2 and cannot get it to do any thing except set the clock. This happen to me before , but after sitting a day, it finally decided to work again. I made the sad mistake of forgetting that it does not like temps over 350. So now I will wait till tomorrow and hope it will work again. There is nothing in the manuel for any error codes.

We've had it for over a year now. We use it everyday for baking and for toast. We've never had more perfect toast. We have a full-size convection oven as well and can attest to the baking-speed being similar to that of our full size convection oven. What we love most is the digital keypad is enclosed just like the ones on microwaves...No grease can get into cracks. The second feature our family love is that we can fit a pizza in there without any problems. When baking tall apple pies (or cakes) in it, I would recommend a lower oven temperature. Even though it has an adjustable rack which can be moved up or down, the heating element tends to be either too close to the top of the pie or too close to the bottom of the pie. Our old Delonghi brand toaster ($80 as well, but toast was never this good) had knobs on it which started to stick. We couldn't get the knobs unstuck even though we put a ton of lubricant on it. We're going to try to avoid toasters with knobs from now on. We've also seen keypad which are not fully enclosed. I can't imagine how people would be able to keep those clean to avoid blockage.

I saw this at a Target store but you can only buy them online from Target. You can get them through Amazon and I recommend that because Amazon has better customer service than Target.



I've baked chicken, broiled salmon, baked scones, cakes, and even dried fruit in this. The food comes out perfect every time.



I've been using this now for about a week and it's just like having a real oven. It bakes beautifully without heating up the whole kitchen like the oven does. It's sleek and looks nice on the counter.



I was going to buy a DeLonghi, but I recommend this. It's bigger, can do more, and you can't beat the price. This really is the best toaster oven/convection oven on the planet. Nobody does it better.

Like many other reviewers, I was disappointed with the life span on this item. Having had (still have and still using) other Cuisinart products, I thought this would be a good investment to replace my 15-year old Delonghi toaster oven. It worked great, for the first few years, then started developing problems with the controls. Now, after only 4 years it is nothing more than an extreme fire hazard. The controls don't work unless you jiggle the knobs, and even then it randomly turns off or goes into broil mode (regardless of the settings). and the random beeping (more like a tortured shriek) is disconcerting at best.

We purchased this toaster oven three or four years ago. I agree that the exterior of this oven gets very hot to the touch when in use -- not safe with little ones in the house. The controls are imprecise, resulting in burned toast on the light setting sometimes, and barely browned on the same setting other times. Within a year of buying it, the front element went out, resulting in even more uneven heating. Finally, it shorted out altogether, and now, only a few years later, we're looking at replacing an expensive appliance, and I am not at all convinced that I should go with another Cuisinart.

I have had this toaster for about 4 years. Worked great for about 2-3 years. Like others, the electronic alert either doesn't work at the end of a toasting cycle or will beep on its own when another electronic device in the house is on (the toaster electronics is VERY sensitive to voltage fluctuations). Finally, the heating coils starting wearing out after 2 years and now (4 years) don't get as hot as they used to. In other words, I used to set the toaster on "between light to medium" to toast bagels. Now I have to set it close to the darkest setting to obtain the same toast results.

Ours has always beeped at weird times, popped when it gets hot, and the fins on the side get in the way. I picked up this toaster oven at a local store for $62 and some change. Only for occasional toasting and the bigger reason was to cook small meals, frozen pizza and reheat foods that just don't do well in a microwave. Black and Decker was always the standard by which everyone based their products on. Guess B&D have falling into hard times in the competition of costs vs quality, this model is very poor quality! I usually get a kick out of reviews where most people seem to like a product then you get a few people who talk about "how horrible it is" and now you are reading this review wondering the same thing? "How can there be mostly reasonable reviews and this guy isn't happy?"



With the first use of cooking a frozen 12" pizza (which fit nicely by the way) the racks refuse to stay in the guides and kept crashing to the bottom!!! Needless to say, burned pizza made a mess everywhere! I'm going to give B&D benefit of doubt in that possibly I had a defective model? However, I just couldn't bring myself to exchange it for another! Instead, spent a little more ($69 so not much more) money on an Oster convection model that has great guides and though the convection is purely a fan blowing hot air around, it really seems to work well!



No more B&D products for me, that may seem harsh but I don't have time or the patience to return products in hopes the next one will work...

Don't quite understand why so many people are having problems with this unit. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to "toast" something. If you are scared of burning your bread, then put it on the lowest setting. If you need more time, add more time after that. What I love about it, is that when my air conditioner is on, I cook everything in here because I won't turn on the big oven. Just this week I made the most delicious breaded pork chops, french fries, chocolate chip muffins, all kinds of cookies WITHOUT any problems. The timer seems to be dead on, but I use a digital timer at the same time anyway just in case. Have had this unit for maybe a year now. Bought it from BJ's and never regretted it for a moment. Love that you can also put a "round" pizza in the rectangular oven due to the bump in the back. Perfect for my family!!! Happy cooking all..............

I've owned this B&D for about 5 months now and I'm extremely pleased. A big issue for most of the other reviewers seems to revolve around the toaster timer and that may well be. Maybe they are used to using the same type of bread every day and figuring out the right setting of a toaster and then never having to change it, but I don't toast that often and whenever I have I always watch it to see when it gets to the right color then I turn it off. The good news related to toasting - it evenly colors both sides, so my toast is better than ever!

But more often I use it for heating little frozen pizza's and other frozen foods which do much better in an oven than in a microwave, and this does GREAT at that, better than my GE Profile gas oven. I find that things are done in the exact time specified in the instructions, and with my GE oven I have to set it hotter than the instructions, and run it 5 - 10 minutes longer than the directions call for. And its hot and ready to cook in a minute or two vs. 5 or more for the GE.

I haven't had any problem with the door, seems to work fine to me, and I'm aware of heat issues with toasters so I keep a little space around it which I think would be a good rule for any one purchased.

This item is too small for my toaster oven. I contacted the manufacturer, asking to purchase a larger cover, but received no response. Not recommended.

This came very quickly and it is as described, it just didn't fit. I guess the toaster oven's today are quite bigger than they used to be.
