 "Very good product" 2009-06-02
By K. Howerton (Joplin,MO USA)
This machine does so much more than what I thought. I havent really used it a whole lot since I bought it but I have. Burnt chicken in it a few times so you really have to mess with the time cook. But other than that its great. You can bake a cake in it and sooo much more. I would tell anyone that is looking for a toaster oven to buy one of these.

I love this toaster oven. I love it so much, this is my second one. Yes, I believe I wore the last one out but only the control switch~maybe B&D should make replacements for that but they

don't. So why the hype? Pre-heating, gone. Hot house, gone. Waiting to eat after long work day, gone & the biggy, electric bill, lowered!!! If you're a family of one or two, you dont need a conventional oven again. If your family is bigger, you need to cook infra red to save time. Just use the conversion setting, add a couple minutes for good measure and you're ready to eat in half the cooking time. This oven is very versatile & easy to use. It's my latest 'must have' to an easier life!

"Great little oven if you understand how to use it." 2009-02-19
By Hugh (Huntington Beach, CA)
I also have the FC150R and it looks identical to this. Paid $70 locally.

If you think this will replace your oven or your microwave, you're wrong. It will replace your toaster oven. It does one heck of a job of that, though.

I've found that cooking frozen meat items in this thing sometimes leads to burning the tops. I'm trying to learn the settings better and hopefully will adjust for this in the future. Otherwise I've read covering with aluminum foil will prevent the IR waves from burning the top. It's a new way of cooking, so you have to learn how to work with it.

Anything I've cooked that was defrosted cooked up nicely. Thorough heating, crispy or browned outside.

The advertising will tell you its the next great thing and you don't need an oven anymore. Well, not so much. I still use my regular oven to bake things. I use a Microwave/Convection Oven combo to cook frozen foods, etc... (convection is perfect for those) We bought this to replace our ailing toaster oven. Seems like these days they fall into this price range, anyway. This one had better features than the rest.

This oven heats up immediately and cooks FAST. Once you learn how to work it right, it is wonderful. Be prepared to burn some stuff in the beginning. If you keep in mind it will act like a toaster oven on steroids, you'll be fine.

By Judie Muchmore (west Jefferfson,Ohio)
its just the two of us and we were interested in a counter top oven. I did a lot of research online and thought I had found the best. Black and Decker infrawave countertop oven. Boy was I wrong, It burns everything. I am so disappointed. I don't know whether to continue to try to figure out what I am doing wrong or just send it back.It should be easy to use[thats what the cd says] but it isn't. I'm sorry I wouldn't recommend this oven to anyone. We spent to much money on this oven for it not to work

The stainless infrawave oven I recently purchased looks exactly like this one but the model number is FC150R.

Model FC150R works great. I use it for everything from toast to re-heating to baking and broiling. If you are only a family of two, you won't need to use a large oven again. I only use my large oven for keeping foods warm. Model FC150R is fast, efficient, and fun to use.

 "reduces cooking time" 2009-03-01
By T. Foglia (south jersey, usa)
this product reduces cooking time by eliminating preheating. the foods turn out exactly as if you used your full sized oven. this oven is great for fast foods. i.e. pizza, toast, bagels, reheat leftovers. it is also ideal because it does not heat up your kitchen like a traditional oven does. i recommend this product.

I am very impressed with the Infrawave Oven by Black & Decker. I was watching TV and saw the commercial for the item. I thought that nothing could be this good - but all of my expectations have been met. The Oven is as good as they advertised on TV. Dealing with Amazon.com has always been a pleasure.

"There is a reason most recipes are with frozen food..." 2008-08-16
By Karen Seavey (Chicago, IL)
This oven only does slightly better than a typical rotisserie or toaster type oven. If you are broiling a steak, unless you like your meat well done, you should start with frozen meat in order to get a browned surface with a pink center. The recipe book that comes with it only has a few examples and the pre-programed selections do not accomplish a proper product without adjustments to the time. It has a setting for rising crust pizza (like DiJourno) which starts with 14 minutes. A regular oven is 22 to 25 minutes. At 14 minutes, the pizza had risen but the crust was still very soft and the cheese was not even browned at all. I added time, and ended up at over 20 minutes with a pizza that was too soft and floppy. The same with frozen french fries. I expected a web site that would give more direction in how to use the oven but all the B & D web site has is the recipe book in pdf form.

As far as the rotisserie, the oven is not really big enough to even accomodate a medium sized chicken. I did do a small pork roast which came out nicely done. But it had to be a small roast to not touch the element guards. For the price, I was rather disappointed.

"EXCELLENT for Pizza, and broiling, but this is not a typical toaster oven. Nice for singles, or two person homes." 2009-06-21
By Movie Maker (Alexandria, VA United States)
I have had the InfraWave for the better part of a year, and in general like it.

If you happen to be looking for a small pizza oven (fresh, frozen or to re heat) you cant go wrong- really great results. Same for chicken, and some cuts of steak. Cooking from frozen (IN A DISH, not included) seems to work well.

Some things do not cook well- potato's in particular! On the other hand, great for home made mac and cheese ,and similar baked foods.

(Never EVER put a plastic microwave container in this unit, even if some have 'baking instructions' on the box! I DID, once and was sorry)

Very nice for garlic bread too! Slice Italian/french bred , add toppings and you are done in a minute or two.

One should keep in mind that this is an OVEN/Broiler, and not so much of a toaster in my opinion. I have had nice results with bagels, not so hot with plain toast.

The unit does get very hot on top, which is a concern. Instructions suggest that the unit ALWAYS be un-plugged when not in use.

This can cause one to have those moments of leaving for work in the AM and having the "did I, or did I not unlplug this thing" feeling when it is too late to turn around! ( you KNOW that kind of feeling).

 "No Long-term Relationship Here" 2009-06-13
By The SARGE! (East of Atlanta, GA)
We took delivery of a B&D FC150BR in mid-August, 2007. We've always had finicky results with re-heating foods. Some of the cooking/baking programs required "monitoring" as well, although it was a good toaster.

The appliance began to fail in March of 2009. First one cooking, baking, broiling or whatever selection, ceased to operate, then another until, finally, the toaster option stopped operating at the end of May, 2009.

We could program it for any and all tasks, then hit the "start button" and the oven would begin to do its thing...then would immediately shut itself down.

B&D's help-desk, although understanding and polite, had little to offer, as the oven was past its replacement date. They DID offer a discount on a new one but, since there had been a price rise, it would have cost us MORE then the earlier oven!

We replaced it with a 6-slice toaster/convection oven which works fine. It's easier to program and operate. It's also a B&D appliance, but B&D is a good brand that usually offers good merchandise.

"it's better than expected but needs some modifications" 2009-05-23
By Lauren Brady (Carbondale,IL USA)
Black & Decker FC150 InfraWave Speed-Cooking Countertop Oven, Stainless

I purchased this oven one month ago and have used it quite often. It is almost as good as advertised but there are a few problems that require modification. I have broiled steak and chicken, baked roast beef, meat loaf and chicken. Everything I have cooked has turned out quite tasty; that said this oven needs options that are more specific: for example, you do not have a choice of inputting the size of the item you are cooking and whether or not you are cooking it frozen or fresh. The main menu allows you to alter the temperature and cooking time, but the bake or broil menu only allows you to change the cooking time. It takes some experimentation, but overall I am quite pleased with the quality of the food I have cooked.

In addition, it is easy to clean and customer service is quite helpful. Unfortunalty nobody can tell me what the default temperature is if I select from the bake menu. I have never cooked frozen beef or chicken in my life,so pretty much it is guesswork.

I seem to have figured out everything by trial and error and I highly recommend this product. In reality the intelligence factor should take into consideration if you are cooking frozen food. Overall, I highly recommend this product. JUST REMEMBER, YOU HAVE TO USE COMMON SENSE AND FIGURE OUT WHAT TIME AND TEMPERATURE YOU WISH TO COOK AT.Once you get the hang of it you will be able to cook anything you want and the food will come out cooked to your liking.

Enjoy!

"Not perfect, but getting there..." 2009-05-02
By K. Elrod
Impressed. I bought this from a local source (sorry amazon, but I live in the islands...) and I am 100% satisfied. 4 Stars because it isn't perfect in it's 'predictive' conversion. I've only had the oven for about 3 weeks now, and I use it daily (multiple times daily). Toast = perfect. Reheating leftovers = perfect. Cooking from frozen to delicious = almost perfect (you need to tweak it to your tastes)...

My only complaint is that I can't seem to find a manual option - it all has to go through their system of picking the food type, temp, time & then have it convert. Mind you, it does a great job at this, but I would prefer to be able to plug in what I want from the get go vs. use the menu system. Obviously I am so incredibly busy that these extra 10 seconds have a huge impact on me & what I can get done in a day :)

Great Product - does what it says it will do. Oh & by the way, it is HOT where I live, so not having to heat up the entire house is a HUGE plus.
