"Nordic Ware Toaster Oven Casserole Pan" 2009-06-02
By Kayla
I got this a replacement for the original toaster oven tray, and I really like it. I always cover the tray in aluminum foil, so I haven't had any flaking issues even though I put it in the dishwasher. It's deep enough you can cook something with some sauce runoff, but easy to handle and a good sturdy weight without being too handy.

If you've caked on so much to your old tray you need a replacement, or want a pan that will allow you to use your toaster oven more like a traditional oven (baked potatoes, chicken dishes, etc.), then this pan will serve you well. I do recommend keeping it covered in aluminum foil - it is easily recycled and keeps your pan nice for longer.

"Very disappointed & no longer used" 2008-11-03
By Nocturnal (San Francisco)
It's the right size and I wish more bakeware companies made these smaller sizes because the "normal" size pans don't fit in our convection oven and we can't use glass or that plastic stuff. It's hard to find smaller size metal bakeware. But this one, and all the others with a non-stick surface, become useless after 2 or 3 uses--the non-stick surface starts to flake off (onto the food cooked in it) which is not healthy for you. And we don't have a dishwasher so it can't be blamed on that machine. We use the teflon-friendly utensils etc. but the stuff still flakes off. The manufacturers ought to just give up on the non-stick stuff and let us have plain ol' stainless steel--at least it's tough and can withstand scouring when needed, you can use Oven-off on badly burned crusty stuff, you can soak it in an ammonia-baking soda solution to lift off cooked-on food; you can still use the pan. These non-stick pans just start losing their non-stick surface within 2 or 3 uses, and the non-stick stuff is stuck to your food! Not good, not good, not good.

"My Nordic Ware Compact Oven 1-1/2-Quart Casserole Pan Review...." 2008-10-16
By E. Smith (Dallas, TX USA)
I use my toaster oven almost daily so am always on the hunt for good pans to use in it. But this time when I went on the hunt I wanted a "covered" pan for my little oven. I quickly found they do not exist like they do for my big oven so I decided to make one.

This pan, the Nordic Ware Compact Oven 1-1/2-Quart Casserole Pan, was perfect for one of the pieces. I purchased two of them. (My research led me to another pan here on Amazon... The Chicago Metallic Duncan Hines Toaster Oven Pan. I also ordered two of those.) When the 4 pans arrived I did a test fit and they fit together almost as if they were made to even though they were from totally different manufacturers. One pan's lip fits inside the other pan's lip making a decently stable 'catch'. The two pans, different depths, would allow me to have a lid on a casserole or a cover on a broiler pan.

All was great until I tried to remove the adhered label from the Nordic Ware pans. The glue refused to budge and I ended up with the cardboard in my hand and the glue in the pan. I tried to scrape it off with my fingernail but no luck. After trying several things I gave up and Emailed Nordic Ware customer service the following day. The customer service rep who contacted me went above and beyond the call when she took a pan home herself and worked on the problem until she solved it then mailed me and gave me the solution. So, thanks to Sue at Nordic Ware customer service and her solution of soaking the glue with a little vegetable oil, I am happy to say that the glue residue is no longer in the bottom of my pans. Now I can start using them and experimenting with my new "covered" set.

"What a great little pan!" 2008-09-16
By E. M. Wahl (Baghdad, Iraq)
I love this little pan! I read the previous reviews before I purchased this pan. I almost didn't get it because of all the negative reviews. Thank goodness I did! It was very very inexpensive so either way, I wouldn't be out by too much. I have used this pan every day for over a week and have had no problems with it. The non-stick coating works great and doesn't peel off. It's non-stick, so there is no need to use anything other than a sponge or washcloth... Those using SOS pads or steel wool don't know how to care for their cookware. This is a perfect pan for anyone wanting to bake in a toaster oven or even just wanting to bake for a small amount of people.

"Small pan but tough in action." 2008-02-12
By Niki M. (Alexandria, VA)
I bought this pan set to use with my new Cuisinart toaster oven. It's a nice, sturdy set. I've use it several times and I am quite happy with it's performance. I intend on purchasing another one.

Regarding it's size, even knowing the stated measurements beforehand, for some reason it still seemed smaller than I anticipated. Or maybe it's that I am not used to toaster oven size pans. The size is fine for me as I generally just cook for myself. However, fitting large portions on it would be a problem. Two pork chops is all you are going to fit on it. FYI.

 "Not worth it" 2008-02-12
By FranVf (Western NC, United States)
I purchsed this based on the reviews and regret it. It warped a little when used to cook biscuits in the toaster-oven, but warped so badly when used to broil a steak that it won't return back to it's original shape. Don't bother with this product.

"A lesson in wasted money" 2007-07-22
By J. Leeper
This item warps at moderate temperatures, like 350. The rack wobbles since because the pan is bending at opposite angles and food has even slide off while in the oven. EVERYTHING sticks to it, and I've had to take a steel wool to it. It's flimsier than Nordicware, which I bought it to replace, but I'm going back to it. The teflon flakes easiy on Nordicware, but I've lined it with foil to extend it's life.

"Dimensions, dishwasher safe, high temperature durable" 2007-02-21
By Melanie C. (Columbus, OH USA)
This pan is 9 1/2" by 6 1/4 inches, or 24 x 16 x 2 cm. Consider these dimensions carefully, as for larger Toaster Ovens you may be able to have two side by side. The pan itself is very sturdy, with a blue green nonstick surface on it. The rack is sort of a "beefed up" version of a cake cooling rack sized to fit the pan. It is dish water safe. The rack is manufactured in China. The upper temperature limit is 550 degrees F or 290 C. Plan on using only wood, nylon, rubber or plastic tools, as the non stick surface can scratch.. This product is made by Chicago Metallic, 120 Lakeview Pkwy., Vernon Hills, Illinois.

By Maryg2504 (Texas)
I've had this oven for about 2 years. I was satisfied with it until this morning when the heating element wouldn't come on. The fan did. I thought was toast was cooking until I looked at the oven and it was still cold. It did do a great job on pizza. If you're wanting to cook toast, buy something else. Considering the cost, I expected it to last longer. I don't recommend this item.

 "Believe those reviews" 2009-08-07
By American homemaker
I wanted the under-the-counter space-saving feature that I had in my old toaster oven and I learned an expensive lesson. This product is worthless as a toaster. There is only one single heating element through the center of the toaster that results in bread that is toasted in patches, but, most importantly, leaves it just plain dry. Lousy product, and not cheap.

 "Not so hard" 2009-08-02
By William J. Rafferty (Boston, MA)
I read the reviews for this toaster oven and, in general, I agree that the last step in the installation (connecting the oven to the mount)is a bit of a challenge but I didn't find it so daunting as described and, start to finish, the whole procedure took less than one hour. I wish the timer went to more than 30 minutes, but that's a quibble. I also wish it had a tray, but fortunately I kept my old one and it's just good to not have to fix the old (20 yrs.) B & D spacemaker!

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" 2009-07-14
By Old Sol (Arizona USA)
Paid: $65 including tax

PRO: Good looking

CON: Difficult, if not impossible, to install; hazardous to use; Inconvenient controls; no way to broil; no tray provided; uneven toasting pattern

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Many years ago, B & D invented an under-the-cabinet toaster-oven, of which I have owned at least two. It became a classic. With one-button operation it was easy to operate and it shut off automatically, for safety, when the door was opened. When the heating element burned out, it was a simple matter to buy a new one for $30 and slip it into the slots.

When our toaster heating element burned out we discovered that B & D had replaced the successful model for a Toaster from Hell. To start with, it costs double what the simple old toaster did. To operate the toaster, each time one wants toast, one has to decide how long it takes and set the control to the estimated time (gauge is marked in 5 minute increments.) If you overestimate and the toast starts to burn, you have to open the door and quickly extract the semi-burned toast while filling the kitchen with a blast of hot air and smoke. The oven continues to heat until you shut if off manually, created a hazard, especially if there are curious young children present.

But before you are ready to burn toast, you have the fun of installing the toaster under your cabinets. You've seen those 3-dimensional Chinese puzzles. If you like playing with those, while blindfolded, you'll love installing this toaster! It took me 10 or 12 hours over a period of three days; depending upon the shape of your existing cabinets, it may be easier for you....or it may be impossible.

Everything reviewer Spice of Life said is true and his advice was a big help to me.

Although I give this toaster a low rating, I'm going out and buy another of the same model, as a backup. After the heating element fails on this one, I don't want to have to install another "new and improved" model later.

P S: At least it's handsome and matches the color of our other appliances. It looks even better after I removed the redundant legs.

Cost of electricity to toast 1 to 4 slices: less than one cent

Dimensions: width 16.5" height 8" depth 13"

 "Clear Counter" 2009-07-01
By Patricia Beatson
It's great to keep my counter clear and still have the toaster oven accessible. I love the timed automatic turn off for safety. My previous oven keeped on going until turned off. My only negative comment is on the cord control. The cord provided is to too long for my needs and hangs down despite a small device provided to wrap the cord around. I needed only about 6 inches of cord and 24+ was provided. Modern kitchens have many outlets and do not need long cords.

"Not as non-stick as I would like but does crisp foods well" 2009-06-21
By Ronny Ong (Dallas, TX USA)
Works great for french fries, taquitos, pizza rolls, french bread pizza. It's also the best way to quickly reheat a slice of thin-crust pizza and have it come out crisp. Sure, the size is small but people trying to be ambitious with toaster ovens are kidding themselves. My only disappointment is that the non-stickiness of the non-stick surface seems to fade (even without being scratched). I think it may have to do with being used a lot at higher temperatures, but that's to be expected with the kinds of foods you would crisp on this.

 "Great item" 2009-05-17

For one person this is a great item. French fries come out nice and crispy like they were deep fried but without the grease!

I put fries or tater tots on the tray and give them a quick spray with cooking spray, season them then just cook in the toaster oven. Pizza reheated came out great also and so did frozen chicken patties.

If there are two people look into getting the larger size for a stove oven, this tray cooks for one reheating pizza or cooking fries or tater tots.

Well worth the small amount it costs.
